Area Communication and Messaging Updates
As a result of the feedback from last year's Pacific Schools Faculty survey, various changes are on the horizon to help improve communications and messaging across the Pacific.
One change that has occurred recently is the creation of a generic email account, that will be used for key communications between the Area Office and School Faculty throughout the Pacific.
The new email account will be listed in the global address book as ps-communications@churchofjesuschrist.org with the display name Pacific-Schools-Communications.
Please look out for messages and communications from this new email account in the upcoming days and weeks.
Area Communication FAQ's
What's changing?
As a result of the feedback from last year's Pacific Schools Faculty survey, the Area will be working to communicate more directly with school faculty for certain types of communications. While many communications will still come directly from Area Office staff, important notifications and messages will also be sent from a generic email account from time to time.
The new email account will be listed in the global address book as ps-communications@churchofjesuschrist.org with the display name Pacific-Schools-Communications.
Why the change?
This change has come as a result of feedback and requests from faculty across the Pacific to have more direct communication with the Area Office. The change also helps to alleviate the pressure on Principals to forward important messages and announcements to their school faculty teams.
Can I still contact the Area Office directly?
Direct emails and messages are still welcomed and encouraged between area office staff and school faculty. You should continue to expect direct communications from the area leadership team, HR team, EdTech team, and other area staff. The main change for now is that key communications for large groups of pacific school employees will now come regularly from the ps-communications@churchofjesuschrist.org email account.
How is the new email account monitored and managed?
The new email account will be managed and monitored by the Area Communications Committee which is currently led by Jeremy Higgins. You are most welcome to contact Jeremy Higgins directly for any questions.
Can we reply to the new email account?
Yes. You can reply directly to the new email account. Emails received via the new account will be monitored by the Area Communication Committee. Employees are not required to respond to bulk email messages, but they are always welcome to contact area staff directly or via this new email account.
How do I get added to the Area mailing list?
Communications from the Pacific-Schools-Communications email account are sent to a faculty and staff mailing list. As staff and faculty are constantly changing in Church Schools, it is possible that certain employees have not been updated or added to the mailing list. If you, or someone you know is not receiving emails from the new email account, please contact Jeremy Higgins directly for support: jhiggins@churchofjesuschrist.org
Social Media Channels Launching in the Near Future
In conjunction with our efforts to improve communications throughout the area, social media channels will soon be launched by the Area Office. Individual schools are still encouraged to maintain and run their own pages on platforms such as Facebook, but Area wide channels will also be created to facilitate Pacific-wide messaging.
Jeremy Higgins will be looking to work more closely with schools who would like to launch or improve their own Facebook channels in 2021. Please stand by for more details on this topic in the near future.
Update: 2020 Pacific Schools Faculty Survey
The feedback collected from the Pacific Schools Faculty Survey last year has provided the Area Office with some wonderful insights. Many of the projects and training initiatives planned for 2021 are being driven directly by your feedback. Thank you again for sharing your insights and stories.
The Area is currently working on compiling the results of the survey in to a summary document that will be shared with all faculty across Pacific Schools. We thank you for your patience as we work to summarize this data whilst maintaining confidentiality and privacy. We hope to release a summary report in Q2 of this year.
