Facebook pages are a great way to share content about your school and its successes. There is, however, a downside to Facebook pages. Because they are public, there is limited ability to control who is engaging with the page. Sometimes, schools may wish to have "private" pages where only specific people are allowed to view content and make comments. This is where Facebook Groups come in.
Facebook Groups are a place to communicate about shared interests with certain people. The great thing about Facebook groups is that they can be public or private. If a school has a need for a "closed" or "private" place to share information online, then they can create a Facebook group to do so.
Keep in mind that both Facebook Pages and Facebook Groups have their own pros and cons. We encourage the use of Facebook Groups for closed interactions and communications between students, teachers, and parents. We encourage the use of Facebook Pages for open communications with the school and the general public.
