Associate Director, Jonathan Warwick, provides training in respect to professional development and teacher improvement in Pacific Church Schools. Key topics for this training include: defining professional development in the context of Church schools; the ITEP program; understanding the teacher footprint; and educational assistance.
With discussion time included, staff and faculty will require approximately 30-40 minutes to complete this training module. For ease of viewing, the training has been divided in to four video segments. The videos can be watched online via this page, or downloaded and saved for viewing on a device. Download links for each video segment are provided below each video.
Part 1: PLD Introduction + The ITEP Program
Time Required: 12-17 Mins
In this segment Jonathan discusses professional development in the context of Church schools. ITEP coordinators, Elder and Sister Poll also speak about the ITEP program and adjustments that have been made in response to the global pandemic. Key questions include: What comes to mind when you hear the phrase 'professional learning and development'? What can we do to further develop our skills, abilities, and talents?
Part 2: Understanding the S&I Teacher FootprintÂ
Time Required: 6 Mins
In this segment, Jonathan Warwick invites HR Manager, Matt Murray to review the S&I Teacher Footprint. The teacher footprint acts as a guiding document to help teachers in their pursuit of additional qualifications, salary increases, and role opportunities within the organization.
Part 3: Teacher Footprint Scenarios
Time Required: 7 Mins
In this segment, Jonathan speaks with Victoria Fitisemanu about the teacher footprint using various scenarios and examples, to help faculty understand the footprint in greater depth.
Part 4: Educational Assistance + Conclusion
Time Required: 7 Mins
In this segment, Jonathan, Victoria, and Matt wrap up the conversation about professional learning and development. They discuss educational assistance, suggested time frames for professional development, and additional thoughts relating to teacher development in Church schools.
