Configuring the Grade Setup tab for every term and every class can be repetitive and time consuming - especially in areas that struggle with poor internet connectivity.
Fortunately, Gradebook has a built in copy function to help make the setup process faster and less repetitive. For instance, once you have setup all the Reporting Terms correctly for one class, Gradebook provides you with the option to copy the Grade Setup for that class over to other classes that require the same configuration.
NOTE A: Do not use the copy function unless you are certain that you have set up at least one class correctly.
NOTE B: The Grade Setup configuration should only be copied if the selected classes use the same weights and categories for grading.
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
1. Launch Gradebook and select a class that has already had the Grade Setup Tab configured correctly for every reporting term. You should not go any further without first completing the Grade Setup correctly for at least one class. See Part 4 of this series if you need help with setting up a single class.
2. Next select a Reporting Term from the Grade Setup tab and then click the Copy button. As long as the class you have selected has been setup correctly for all terms, it will not matter which Reporting Term you initially select to ‘copy’ from – the setup for all reporting terms associated with this class will be captured in this process.
3. In this example we will be copying the ENTIRE class setup from the selected class to other classes.
Select the Entire Class option and click OK.
4. Using the checkboxes in the left-hand column, select the classes for which you would like to copy the Grade Setup to. In this example, we are trying to copy the Grade Setup from the selected class into all other classes. Click Next when you have selected the correct classes.
5. Verify that your selections are correct and then click Finish. It will take Gradebook a few minutes to process the changes – especially if you have copied settings over to a large number of classes. Allow Gradebook to finish saving your changes before you exit the page.
NOTE: It may pay to check the Grade Setup tabs on a few of the other classes in order to verify that everything has copied over correctly. To do so, select a class, click on the Grade Setup Tab, choose a reporting term and view the result to confirm whether or not the function has copied the Grade Setup information correctly.
