Facebook Groups have a feature named Guides that can help you organise the content in your group into additional topics, guides, or categories.

For example, if you have a "Year 7" Facebook group, you might like to organise the content for that group into broader categories such as Homework Assignments, Class Trips, Course Materials, Quizzes, English Resources, Math Resources, Announcements etc. Guides can be used to help organise group content in this way.

Activating the Guides Feature

The Guides feature is not usually switched on by default so you will need to activate the feature for your group in order to get started. If you cannot see a "Guides" option listed below your group cover photo, please do the following to activate the feature:

1. With your group selected, select the Add Features page from the left-hand Manage group menu.

2. With the Add Features page open, scroll down to the Other features section and click on the Add/Settings button to switch on the Guides feature.

3. You will now be able to see the Guides feature on your group menu bar below the group cover photo. If it is not one of the main tabs, it can be accessed by clicking on the word More.

Adding a New Guide

With the Guides feature activated you can add your first guide. In order to add a Guide, please do the following:

1. Select the Guides option from your group menu. If the feature does not appear on your main menu, you can click the More button to view other group features.

2. Click Create guide. If this is the first guide you are creating for the group you may see an option that says Start a Guide, instead of Create guide.

3. Give your guide a name and description and click Save.

Adding Content to Your Guides

Once you have created one or more guides, you can share posts, files, and even quizzes related to that particular guide. To add content to a guide, please do the following:

1. Select the Guides option from your group menu. If the feature does not appear on your main menu, you can click the More button to view other group features.

2. Any guides that you have created will be listed here. Click on the name of a guide in order to edit it or add content.

3. From this page, you will be able to switch between your guides or create new guides via the left-hand page menu. You can also create a post or quiz for the guide you have selected by using the buttons provided.
