Intro

Up until now, Teachers have had the ability to submit a Log Entry, but have not had the ability to go back and review any of the Log Entries that they have previously submitted.

We have recently added a report to PowerTeacher that allows Teachers to view any of the Log Entries that they have personally submitted within a certain time period. This report is titled: Log Entries for the Current Teacher.

The report will automatically identify the Current User and retrieve any Log Entries that have been created by the Current User.

NOTE: This report is designed specifically for Log Entries created by Teachers via the PowerTeacher Portal. It will not function correctly for Log Entries created by Administrators in PowerSchool. A separate report named Log Entries for the Current Administrator can be used by School Administrators.

Step by Step Guide

1. Login to PowerTeacher.

2. Navigate to the link labelled SQL Reports on the left-hand navigation pane:

3. Once you click on the SQL Reports link you will be directed to another page and will see a list of report categories. Each of these report categories will contain at least one or more reports. Click on the word Discipline to expand the category and view the list of reports that belong to that category.

4. Click on the report labelled: Log Entries for the Current Teacher

5. On the Run SQL Report page, you can specify the date range that you would like to scan for Log Entries. For example, if you would like to see the Logs for the current week only, then enter the first day of the week in the Start Date field and the last day of the week in End Date field.

6. Similarly, if you decided that you wanted to view all the Log Entries submitted from the start of the year up until now, then put January 1st in the Start Date field, and today’s date in the End Date field.

7. Click Submit when you have entered the correct dates:

8. It may take a few moments for the report to load, but when it has finished running you will see a screen that looks like this:

9. The Log Entries will be grouped by the name of the student. Each student will have one or more Log Entries associated with their group. Click on a row to view/hide the Log Entry details for a specific student. In this example, we can see that the current user has submitted two Log Entries for this particular student:

10. Use the Copy button to copy the data from PowerSchool to your digital clipboard. You can then use the Paste function to paste the data into an Excel spreadsheet:

11. There is also a Search box provided to search and filter for specific information. For example, if you wanted to search for all logs containing the word Discipline, then you would type ‘discipline’ into the search box. You could use the same concept to search for a particular student, date or subject:

Quick Recap

1. Teachers have previously had the ability to submit Log Entries for their students, but were not able to view any of their previous submissions. This new report allows Teachers to view any of their previously submitted Log Entries with a few clicks.

2. Teachers should use the SQL Reports feature located on the left-hand navigation pane to run this report. Simply click on SQL Reports, select the Discipline category, and then select the report named: Log Entries for the Current Teacher.

3. Use the Search box filter to find specific information more easily. Use the Copy button to export the data to an excel spreadsheet if necessary.
